Somkiat Chantra is making a major step in his career by joining the LCR Honda MotoGP team for the 2025 season, becoming the first Thai rider in MotoGP history to compete full-time in the premier class. 

During the 2025 season launch in Bangkok, he expressed excitement about stepping into MotoGP, his commitment to learning and maximizing this new opportunity for himself and young Asian riders. As a factory-supported rider on the RC213V, he’s expected to focus on consistent top-10 race finishes and help boost Honda’s return to form.

Chantra signed a contract in Aug 2024, keeping him in LCR through the end of the 2026 season. He earns an estimated $0.3 million, translating to around €0.22 million or £0.25 million per year, equivalent to about $5,700 (about £4,300 or €4,900) per week.
